If your company employs drivers or has employees driving company you need to have insight into to their driving record.  A driving record search involves pulling records from the state DMV where the applicant possesses a license.

A typical driving record search will uncover information going back approximately three (3) years and sometimes longer for more serious offenses like Driving Under the Influence (DUI). If the employee does not possess a valid license or the license has been suspended a driving record search through the DMV in the state of issue is the only way to find out. Evidence of violations, infractions and accidents will also be reported.

If your company hires drivers that must possess a commercial license and or endorsements  then a a driving record is likely a required component in your pre-employment screening process in order to be in compliance with insurance, Department of Transportation (DOT) and other regulations.
